Network Upgrade in Chicago [ Datacenter Change ]

Post by [gs] quon » Tue May 24, 2005 10:36 pm

Clanservers.com is proud to announce that we will be moving our Chicago datacenter over to another Chicago location. This activity will be scheduled on June 1st, 2005. While this work is being done, there will be downtime.

This will affect all those in our Chicago location with the ip address starting with 8.9.x.x

Please take the appropriate measures to schedule your gaming around this time. We will be annoucing the exact times of the outage a couple days beforehand.

FAQ:

1. Why are you changing datacenters?

Clanservers.com is expanding at a very very fast rate. While the current datacenter location is a carrier class datacenter off of Tier 1 bandwidth, we found that it was restrictive in terms of the bandwidth neutrality and the 24 hour support for the location had issues which were not being addressed

2. Will I be compensated for the downtime while this outage is happening?

Of course, we will be crediting all affected accounts with time credits to their account.

3. Will my IP Change?

No, we have made arrangements where the IP address of your server will move over to the new datacenter. Besides the downtime and the improved network, the move should be transparent in terms of server configurations.

4. Will my server run faster?

Yes, the main goal for the move is to provide an even better network to our customers. Depending on your internet service provider, you may already have the most optimal routes going to your game server already. However, for those that may not have an optimal ping today, this change is definitely a step in the right direction.

We will add more to this list as more questions are asked.

Thanks much for being with Clanservers.com

Chicago datacenter migration has been confirmed and will be occuring throughout the day and night on Wednesday (6/1) and Thursday (6/2). There's a lot of network configurations that will be done before the actual server migrations commence so the start of the server downtime is currently pending on how that goes. Not all customers will experience outage at this location.

This post will be updated once the migration is complete
