Left 4 Dead 2 Commands

Straight from the 'cvarlist' console print out as of 11/17/09 (Included server based settings only):

motd_enabled "1" - Toggles whether or not to show the MOTD to clients when they connect.
mp_disable_autokick "0" - Prevents a userid from being auto-kicked
sv_allow_lobby_connect_only "0" - If set, players may only join this server from matchmaking lobby, may not connect directly.
sv_alltalk "0" - Players can hear all other players' voice communication, no team restrictions
sv_contact "" - Contact email for server sysop
sv_gametypes "coop,realism,survival,versus,teamversus,scavenge,teamscavenge" - Allowable game types
sv_password "" - Server password for entry into multiplayer games
sv_region "255" - The region of the world to report this server in.
sv_reservation_timeout "120" - Time in seconds before lobby reservation expires.
sv_search_key "" - When searching for a dedicated server from lobby, restrict search to only dedicated servers having the same sv_search_key.
sv_steamgroup "" - The ID of the steam group that this server belongs to. You can find your group's ID on the admin profile page in the steam comm
sv_steamgroup_exclusive "0" - If set, only members of Steam group will be able to join the server when it's empty, public people will be able to join the server
sv_tags "" - Server tags. Used to provide extra information to clients when they're browsing for servers. Separate tags with a comma.
sv_voiceenable "1" - Enable in-game voice
z_difficulty "" - Difficulty of the current game (Easy, Normal, Hard, Impossible)

Untested:
mp_roundlimit "3" - Maximum number of rounds
scavenge_set_round_limit "" - Set the number of rounds for a scavenge match

sv_steamgroup_exclusive "0" - If set, only members of Steam group will be able to join the server when it's empty, public people will be able to join the server

I've got a question about this command, and I think the end of the comment on it would tell me my answer.

If you have this set to 1, and say 3 people from your group make a game. Will public people auto-join to fill the spots during the game? Or is it always just group/friends that will be able to join?

this is how mine works, it will only allow members of your steamgroup in initially, once 1 member of your group is on it then will allow anyone to join bbut as stated gives 1st join to your steam group only, acting somewhat like a reservation.

I would really avoid using z_difficulty on public servers, its very annoying when you create a game with normal difficulty then comes to a server that switched the difficulty to Expert.

MayhemX1, I am using the same server and I don't think so that its password are broken. As I am using and the thing is that I am that much comfortable with it. As I really would like to say that I really like that and I ever suffer any of the problem with that software.

Password is broken, they never fixed it to my knowledge... a year later..... still no way to password it, probably extremley hard to do for Valve (I'm being sarcastic).

To run a mutation on your server, use mp_gamemode "mutation#" , an example would be mp_gamemode "mutation12" for, I believe, survival versus.

Also, password is currently broken. The only way to some-what password a server is to require a search key, and then enter that search key, so the only players who may enter are players who have set that search key prior to launching the game.
Also, you can set steamgroup exclusive, and then only members of your steamgroup can launch to that server as the lobby leader.

im still learning how to set a l4d2 server up...

this is all i have in my config.....

what else should i have or rather what do i need???

where is the line that has what game type is running????? this way i can change it from versus to co op when i want...

You will need to use the following in console to change the type when you want it changed. Another option is if you are running Metamod:Source and Sourcemod, you can add an admin menu for it in adminmenu_custom.txt.

Execute the following in console while in the server or through HLSW. Possible modes are coop, versus, survival, realism, teamversus, scavenge, teamscavenge.

    mp_gamemode "coop"

If you have Sourcemod installed, you can use the following command through your client game console:

    sm_cvar mp_gamemode "coop"

We use Sourcemod and I know the sm_cvar command works to set it, but I am not sure whether the direct command (mp_gamemode "coop") works from the server console or not. Seems like Sourcemod was needed to expose the cvar, but it has been a long time since we had a problem with it.

Another note is that once you change the cvar, you may need to change the campaign or vote to restart the current one. I know when we change to survival, it doesn't fully kick in until we vote to another map.
