Does the tick-rate modification apply for all steam server types? (Counter-Strike: Source & Left 4 Dead)
Also, what is the highest tickrate available on a non-100tick server, for both CSS, and L4D.

66 i beleive and yes it applies to all hl1 and 2 based games that im aware of, not sure on others.

great post... i thought by adding those lines in the server cfg that it would force the clients rates to those values as they join. This is not the case on my server. Here are the values in my server.cfg taken directly from this post and another post in the srcds forums:

sv_minrate 13000
sv_maxrate 25000
sv_minupdaterate 66
sv_maxupdaterate 101
sv_mincmdrate 66
sv_maxcmdrate 101
sv_client_cmdrate_difference 1
sv_client_predict 1

However, when I use the mani command to look at rates (ma_rates) I see people with all kinds of screwed up rates... rates as high as 100,000. cmdrates and updaterate as low as 20 and 30. What gives? I know I have heard that u can put your rates in your config file and make it read only so the server cant make a change to it but I know not everyone is doing that... what about putting the server variables in the autoexec.cfg? would that force the rates on the clients? Help me out here... Thanks... [CARE]GMan

Also, is there a way to view my servers command line? do I have to write a ticket for that? Thanks...

ignore what ma_rates says dude, that only shows what is in the clients cfg file

this script works and can be tested by typing "rate" in console, it will show the minimum rate after the word rate no matter what any1 sets their rates too, they will be forced to the minimum rates that u have set in ur server.cfg file :)

also remember their is no such thing as a laggy server (if its looked after properly, or its a crap server) so if you see ppl laggin and warping its their connection which is causin them to lag, i.e they got a shitty router/connection or they in another timezone/continent, nothing to do with your server!!! :P

raptor what "script" are you referring to that "works" I understand what your saying about ma_rates. i don't know what script your referring to. I tried Ace Rates but that doesn't work either to force the clients rates I get the FCARV_SERVER error with that.
Also, when I type rate in the console it shows me ( def. "10000" ) what does that mean?

Also, because ma_rates is not an accurate way of checking rates, is there a way to use the rate command to check other peeps rates? Or do u just trust that the server.cfg is forcing them?

i am reffering to the rates script posted by tim3port on top of page 1 :!: :!:

and yes i trust it coz it can be tested eg. type rate 10 in console, then just type the word rate, it will show u the minimum rate that u have set in ur server.cfg usin the script

same applies for cl_cmdrate + cl_updaterate

it also works for ppl that have high rates set in their config, say they have "rate 30000" in their config and ur server sets maximun rate of 25000

they will be forced to drop their rates to 25000 no matter what ma_rates says coz ur server is enforcing the rates that u specify

ma_rates only gives u a printout in console based of the rate cvars in ppls config file

hope that makes sense, coz im beer :D

Are the settings in the ottawa asian escort first post for a 66 tick server or a 100 tick server? The reason I'm asking is that I run a ottawa asian escorts 20 slots 66 ticks now, thus I need the best settings. And in ottawa escort a month or two I upgrade to ottawa escorts 100 tick, and will need the best for that.
