How can I change my ranked server to unranked (or unranked to ranked)?
In your control panel, click the 'Config' button next to your server. You can then change your server between Ranked and Unranked. Note that to switch from Unranked to Ranked, a reinstall of the server must be done.

What types of servers can I rent?
Currently, you can rent XBOX 360 servers. We are accepting preorders for PC based servers. PS3 server preorders are coming soon, though there is no specific ETA.

Can I play with people who are on different platforms?
No. Although we will be offering servers for all 3 platforms, you can only play with people who are on the same platform as yourself.

reinstall server to change from ranked to unranked ? why ? I suppose you tied the GFWL client running the game instance to the server interface, so why doesn't a restart suffice ? We used to run our Section 8 (the previous game) server on a windows dedicated box, with our own interface. Changing from ranked to unranked was one click, after which the server restarted, done.....

Reinstall is needed from going from unranked to ranked - not ranked to unranked.

How do I change the amount of points require for Victory?
Currently, to do this on a Ranked Server, you have to change your server to Unranked - then you can edit the Scorelimit by going to the 'config' tab on your server administration page, and selecting the "Main server configuration file (comandline.txt) which will now show the options "Score Limit" - you then need to switch it back to a Ranked Server. (keep in mind that the score limit needs to stay within the parameters set by Time Gate for Ranked servers.)

The Above instructions conflict with the FAQ stating that you need to do a 're-install' when going from unranked to ranked - but it worked for me... for a while... Official Clarification would be nice on this one.

How do I change Friendly Fire settings?
The option to do this is called 'FF' and there is a drop down menu to select your settings from. To make the Change on a Ranked server - you need to make it 'unranked' do the change to the setting and them make it a ranked server again. (hopefully these options will be added to the ranked server options setting soon.)

There was a bug that was letting you change back to ranked without doing a reinstall. That has been fixed, and you cannot change any of these settings by switching to unranked and back.

ok, are these features going to be editable eventually for Ranked Servers? or were these settings not intended to be ranked... it seemed like some where I was reading that victory points on a ranked server needed to be at least 500 ... which indicates that it 'was' at some point something that was going to be allowed to be tweaked..

And how about Friendly Fire? why would Friendly Fire on not be an option for a Ranked Server?

I'm afraid that it's not a matter of us providing access to these settings. We have been told by Timegate that we cannot provide access to these settings for Ranked servers. You would need to contact Timegate if you have suggestions for additional settings for Ranked servers.

Is there any chance of an official clarification of the following:

What settings Timegate specify must be true for S8:P Ranked servers,
and what settings gameservers intend on allowing us in the future?

Currently there's a confusion, i've read in several places a ranked server can have a Scorelimit between 750 and 2000 victory points, yet gameservers don't allow this to be changed?


On another note, i noticed S8:P has different sized variants of maps to suit different player numbers, does anybody know of a way to automatically adjust the rotation to fit the number of players currently on the server? Ie, i want to rotate onto "small" maps when it's low population and automatically move to "Medium" and large maps when the server gets full up.

(I am aware the rotation can be set to automatically adjust to the MaxPlayers, but read carefully - this is not what i'm after!)
